General Benning

Henry L. Benning is one of the most well accomplished and respected men to come out of the Southern region. He has had an astounding influence on not only the history of yesterday, but modern society. Fort Benning, a large military camp in Georgia, was established in his name because of the great service and leadership he provided for his country. Benning was a military leader of the Confederate Army during the time of the civil war, as most of the brightest generals were. He had a hand in many of the Confederate’s biggest and most important victories, although they ultimately lost the war. Following the war, he lost many of his assets due to the war, and would practice law until his death (Pou).
