Horror Genre

I absolutely see the points King makes throughout his writing on sanity and insanity, and how it drives the horror genre. I also believe no one is completely sane, and there is a bit of insanity in every person. The horror genre allows people to live out any sick fantasy they crave, but would have mounds of consequences if partaken in reality. When someone sees a murderer or a person who has been deemed insane by society talk to themselves or “grimace” their face when no one is around, it is written off as insane behavior. The truth is, that this is not some abnormal behavior only the mentally insane do, but a human behavior that many people do everyday. So, when someone watches a horror movie with a character who kills, talks to themselves, and makes outrageous faces when alone, they are secretly relating to this character and watching him act in society in a way in which they never could (King).
