I just want to start out by saying I am by no means a supporter of mass social media and have almost removed myself from all forms of it, multiple times. My biggest grievance with social media has to be when people use it in the presence of others, and choose to partake in this online reality versus actually just being in the now and interacting with the people and things around them. For example, almost everywhere someone goes, the first thing one generally does it take a picture of the moment, which at face value is mostly fine to me. Taking a picture of yourself somewhere special and keeping it to look back at is fine, but this is not what people are doing; they are taking these pictures strictly to put onto a social media for other people to see and by doing this everywhere and doing it so often take away what makes it special. Instead of just enjoying the moment for oneself and appreciating wherever one is, they go straight to their phone, take a picture, and post it to social media for OTHER PEOPLE to see.
